12.2. Stream to Studio

Let's consider the situation when we need to quickly organize a connection between a Mobile Reporter and a Studio. For this task we will use IOS App called a “Stream to Studio” for Mobile Reporter, and SRTMiniServer for Studio.
Open the SRTMiniServer and click the TURN ON button. The button should be highlighted in red.

Navigate to the Proxy Addon menu.
Note: In case there is no way to get a dedicated IP address, please use the public IP address
Select any public IP Address and click the CONNECT button. The CONNECT button should be highlighted in red, which means that the proxy server is connected:

- Navigate to the Link Generator  and select the Proxy URL option in Choose URL window:
Note: In case you use Local IP Address for connecting, please select the Local URL option

In the “Link Generator” window perform the following actions:
-     Select Stream to Studio in the “Select Product:” dropdown
-     Copy the link by clicking the Copy button for line you are going to connect
-     Send the copied link to the Reporter in any convenient way(e-mail, SMS, messanger(e.g, WhatsApp)

Open the message with the received link on your mobile device and click on it, after which you will be redirected to the Stream to Studio application. On the START screen, you will see that the corresponding IP address and Line ID are already pre-filled:

Press START button to start the streaming. When the stream is started the counter starts counting the time:

Result: Now you have successfully connected to the SRTminiServer:

In order to transfer the reverse stream from the Studio to the Reporter, we use the Conference Addon.
To Open the Conference Addon, click the icon in the right menu on the main screen of SRTMiniServer:

In the opened window(Partisipants) select the line to which you are going to share the stream and click the OK button(in our case, this is line 1, since earlier we have already connected our Reporter there):

In the Admin section on the right side of the window select the following options:
-     Type of source from which you are going to broadcast the picture to the Reporter
-     Microphone on which you are going to communicate with the Reporter

After selection the type of source and microphone, click the START button to start sharing the Studio screen and sound to the Reporter:

Result: Now the connection between a Mobile Reporter and a Studio is established. The Reporter and the Studio can see and hear each other.

Here are some tips for good live streaming:
Before using the application please make sure that:
-     the camera of the device is working properly and takes a clear image (if there are problems with displaying the image, please wipe the camera)
-     the battery of the device is sufficiently charged (If there is not enough charge, please connect the device to the power before live-streaming)
-     the device is connected to the Internet and the Internet connection speed is sufficient for live-streaming
In order to determine the connection speed use the “Speed Test” feature in Stream to Studio Application:
-     Press the “Speed Test” button on the main screen
-     Select the amount of test data (e.g, 10MB) and press the “Run” button
-     Analyze the result of measurement (If you see big value for "lost pkts" (>10%) then increase "latency" field)
-     Press the “Apply” button to apply the obtained optimal speed settings for your future connection (the speed settings will be displayed on the main screen above the “START” button)
